Eva 2.4 Custom Toolhead

EVA Toolhead and Hotend:

After doing some research and looking through various high flow hotends, I decided to give the Red Lizard/Dragon High Flow Hotend. For this particular hotend, I found that the heatsink was the standard Red Lizard heatsink with the CHC Pro High Flow Heater block. Supposedly, this hotend is for the Creality K1 Max and I was curious about its performance so I wanted to give it a shot. The Red Lizard Heat Sink has a trimetal heat break and an annular ceramic heater that can reach 300 C. The hotend has a projected max flow rate of 45 mm3/s

Custom EVA 2.4 Dragon Face Component:

After obtaining the Dragon Red Lizard CHC UHF hotend, I needed to make a custom mount with the EVA system as there was no option available for this hotend. The heat sink of this hotend fit the standard Dragon Face component, but the CHC UHF heater core was significantly longer than the standard Dragon heater core. To solve this issue, I was able to combine the Phaetus Rapido Face component with the Dragon Face component. Since both face components' hotends have similar heat sinks (E3D V6 Style) with the main difference being that the Rapido Face locates the heat sink higher to allow for a long heater core, all I had to do was modify the Rapido Face component to accommodate the Dragon Red Lizard hotend. When adapting the Rapido Face component for the Dragon CHC UHF hotend, the significant changes that had to be made were moving the mounting screws to avoid interfering with the heat sink and widening the area where the heat sink would sit in.

Standard Dragon Face:

The standard Dragon Face component was made for the Dragon hotend with a regular smaller heater core. The cooling duct doesn't come close to the nozzle.

Modified Dragon Face:

The Dragon Red Lizard UHF hotend has a much longer heat break. With my modified Dragon face, the hotend sits properly and the cooling duct reaches the nozzle.

Custom Dragon Face w/ Dragon CHC UHF Hotend

This is my custom toolhead that combines the "Rapido Face" with the "Dragon Face". I took the design elements from both components.

Main modifications include:

Rapido Face w/ Dragon CHC UHF Hotend

The Dragon Hotend with CHC UHF heater core sits almost perfectly in the "Rapido Face" component. Since the Dragon heat sink has no taper, the Heat sink interferes with the 2 mounting screws on either side of the heat sink.

Rapido Face w/ Rapido HF Hotend

The Rapido HF Hotend has a taper that aligns with the taper of the Rapido's heat sink. The Dragon heat sink is straighter, but wider at the top, which interferes at the mounting location of the "Rapido Face" component.
